The Equator Resort follows the standard protocol as most hotels in the Florida Keys when it comes to hurricanes and tropical storms. Should the City of Key West or The Florida Keys be placed on Hurricane Warning or a mandatory Tourist Evacuation order, then we will follow the below protocol.
Guests Currently on Site
Guests currently on site will be issued a refund for any unused days from the day of their departure.
Scheduled Arriving Guests
Any scheduled arrivals from the date of the Evacuation order to 4 days after the evacuation order will cancelled, refunded and notified via phone and email. Aside from a mandatory evacuation order we will not provide refunds for cancellations due to speculation or expected inclement weather outside of Hurricane Force Winds.
Post-Hurricane
Post-Hurricane, the City of Key West determines when the Key’s are officially reopened. This is determined by the impact of the storm on the infrastructure. Cancellations and refunds will be processed on a day to day basis based on the City’s evaluation. If you reach out to us after a hurricane and receive no response, it is likely due to internet or phone communication issues. Rest assured, the moment connectivity is returned we will be reaching out to guests and processing any required cancellations and refunds.
